Video Editor (Remote)
Pay: $20/hr
Hours: Flexible hours, part-time to start
Description:
As a video editor for Whetstone Studios, you will be working remotely under Producers. You will generally be tasked with editing video in 4 different formats:
10 seconds - promotional
30 seconds - social
60 seconds - social
~3 minutes - short film
Video and audio assets will be coming from many different sources and will be of very different qualities and formats. In this role, you will need to synthesize (and sometimes fine tune) these different materials into a video in line with the Whetstone brand.
It is also important to note that these video + audio assets will be coming from all over the world, and thus some videos will require subtitles to be implemented (translation will be provided).
On the team, you’ll be working under a Producer and with Production Assistants and Researchers who will help gather information, connect you with resources and ensure that the final product reaches the highest quality possible.
Responsibilities:
Work with producers to create desired product
Gather and transfer all forms of media into editing software and ensure each was updated in the correct format
Operate computer editing systems and equipment used for video media and effects
Establish a clear understanding of the storyline and purpose of the video's creation
Improve video and sound quality using various video software
Edit video to include preselected music, interviews, sound clips and other important aspects of the project
Ensure the correct formatting and presentation for finalized videos according to producer’s specifications
Qualifications
Demonstrable proficiency of video and audio editing software and programs
Ability to multitask and work toward several milestones on various projects simultaneously
Creative experience in filmmaking and videography
Ability to understand the desired outcome of a project when meeting with clients and the ability to bring them to life
Experience editing various video projects and inserting sound effects, music and transitions
Excellent communication skills are required to have a solid understanding of project scope and implementation
Ability to collaborate well with other creative professionals to supply Whetstone with top-notch finalized products
Production Assistant (Remote)
Pay: $15/hr
Hours: Flexible hours, part-time to start
Description:
As a production assistant for Whetstone Studios, you will be working remotely under Producers and assisting video editors. You will be assisting the video production process in a more administrative sense. It will be important to keep strong organization and be a very good communicator.
Responsibilities for Production Assistant
Manage digital assets and metadata for the production team
Archive and sync datasets and files for optimal performance
Suggest improvements for all deliveries as identified
Answer queries and communications through phone or email
Carry out necessary administrative duties as required
Perform clerical tasks as requested by the production team
Make suggestions for improvements on elements within each project
Takes minutes of meetings for record and reference
Qualifications for Production Assistant
Experience working as a production assistant is preferred
In-depth knowledge of the industry
Familiar with general clerical and administrative tasks
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong passion for the industry
Self-driven and motivated
Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision
Able to stand, walk and move around for long hours at a time
Researcher (Remote)
Pay: $15/hr
Hours: Flexible hours, part-time to start
Description:
As a researcher for Whetstone Studios you will be searching for stories and talent externally, while also digging deeper internally into Whetstone contributors and stories. You will be tasked with discovering stories and talent that would work well in video format and conveying this research to producers.
Responsibilities for Researcher
Organize internal database of stories--geographically and by story success in video format
Research and find emerging and untapped talent in the food/video space
Work with video editors to supply information and research about video subjects
Report to producers with research, ideas and potential talent and stories
Maintain organized and well communicated research
Create, maintain and organize story and talent databases
Qualifications for Research
Strong research skills
Strong organization and communication skills
In-depth knowledge of the food industry
In-depth knowledge of the digital/video food space
Familiar with general clerical and administrative tasks
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong passion for the food industry
Self-driven and motivated
